a quiet, comfortable, well equipped appartment, nice garden and swimmingpool and a very involved host in the person of Ann
Loved our room & Anne was super helpful to us!
The Freestyle is a fairly basic resort in a good location about a 5 minute walk to 4 Mile and 10 minutes to the heart of Port Douglas. The manager Anne, was extremely helpful and knowlegeable giving us some good tips on things to do around Port Douglas and booking our activities. The facilities were always clean and tidy.
We found the 2 bedroom apartment to be very small for 2 adults and 2 teenage children. The galley kitchen was far too small to actually cook a meal for four and the only table was outside on a small balcony which was frequented by mosquitos at night. The lounge area was very small with the lounges themselves rather uncomfortable. Overall, we felt the apartment was cramped.
The manager was very helpful and friendly. Our room was comfortable ,clean and the balcony faced north, nice and warm for Melbournites! Room was serviced once in the week which was lovely and the resort was close enough to walk into Port Douglas. We would stay there again. Jan
Pool was a little shallow.
Excellent location. We walked in and out to shop, have coffee and evening drink/meals.Only a short stroll away from the beach. Our room with balcony overlooking pool was very relaxing.
Pool water whilst we were there was fairly cool, although for most of the year that is probably desirable.
Good location manageress V. obliging, v good room
Quiet resort, just a short walk from Four mile beach. Has a nice pool, but what use is a pool when you have warm ocean water? :) We stayed a week in June, so winter season. Still very nice and warm (24-26°C), and no jellyfish. The hotel staff, Anne and Jason were very helpful with anything we needed, cabs, car rental, booking of trips on the reef, rainforest, etc... We also were arranged quickly for single-double bedrooms.
The apartment we got (2 bedrooms) didn't have a dining table inside, only outside, and unfortunately, but this is not the hotel's fault, some people in other apartments were smoking, so we got cigarette smoke coming up for breakfast and sometimes dinner time.
We had a lovely quiet room overlooking gardens and with a view to the hills. Anne was a very friendly and informative host, who was incredibly helpful in giving advice on family-friendly activities and booked tours and transfers for us. We are already planning our next trip back.
Ann the receptionist and owner was very friendly and helpful. She was a wealth of information regarding tours, restaurants and activities in the area. The location of the hotel was central to walking into Port Douglas.
Our room was very musty smelling and the furniture in our room needed updating. This is a 4 star hotel becaus of it's central location to Port Douglas not becaus of the size of the pool (small), lack of amenities and general condion of the hotel. Very dated hotel.
We very much enjoyed our 8 relaxing days at Freestyle Resort .The tropical trees and plants create a tranquil and attractive setting, and the apartment was very clean, and well designed, with all the facilities we needed. Anne and Jason were very helpful in every way, and made us feel "at home". The Resort is within reasonable walking distance from the main street, and far enough away to be quiet at night . We also appreciated the fact that the Resort does not have a very large number of apartments so it feels peaceful .
What makes this apartment so special is very friendly and helpful manager Anne. With her guidance we had really good time hanging around the town, touring into Daintree rainforest and diving in the GBR. The room was comfy and pretty.
no vent fan in the bathroom.
The location of the hotel as it was easy walking distance to the beach and the town with plenty of good restaurants for evening meals. We also went out on an excellent trip to the Outer Great Barrier Reef on the boat called the Calypso great day and thoroughly recommend for either snorkelling or Diving. Also went on a Daintree rainforest trip which was also very good. Both were recommended by Anne at the Freestlye Resort who was very helpful and knowledgeable.
The hosts at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The arranged oursnorkelling trip for us and were very helpful with general questions about what to do in Port Douglas and fnq. The apartment was perfect for a family of 4 with two teenagers. We loved it.
very friendly and informative staff, nice walk to main road and beach.very happy.
Fairly good location.
Kitchen has no oven and no extractor, also apartment has no table to eat at, could be a lot better.
